ABBAS AKBERALI
CHAIRMAN AMRELI STEELS LTDMr. Abbas Akberali is one of the founding members of Pakistan Association of Large Steel Producers. He has played pivotal role in the creation of PALSP. In recognition to his contributions, he has been unanimously honored as the Paton in Chief of the Association. He is also Chairman, Amreli Steels Limited.
Mr. Abbas Akberali brings unparalleled experience with a Metallurgical Engineering background combined with an MBA from Columbia University, NY, USA. Mr. Abbas Akberali’s family has been in the Steel related businesses since 1948 and founded Amreli Steels in 1972 and since then he has led the company to become the largest steel bar manufacturer in Pakistan.
Mr. Abbas Akberali set up a fully automatic re-rolling mill under the name of Amreli Steels Limited IN 1984. Presently the capacity of Amreli Steels Limited is about 600,000 tons plus of Steel bars pear year. Amreli Steels has already announced its 3rd Phase of expansion that will take production to over million ton. This is the largest unit producing steel bars in the private sector.
Mr. Abbas Akberali has extensive knowledge of integrated steel making industry. He is an active member of the Steel Associations and gives advice and suggestions to various ministries and Federal Board of Revenue in particular. Also, he serves as a member on the HR Board of the Engineering Development Board.
He has also held leadership roles in the steel, ship breaking and metal recycling industries. Mr. Abbas has played an influential role in driving reforms and policy aimed towards making Pakistan’s steel industry more competitive and sustainable. With a passion for making a SKILLED PAKISTAN a reality, Mr. Abbas Akberali is the founding member of Vocational Training initiative under the name of The Hunar Foundation and serves on the Boards of other notable non-profit organizations i.e. Ida-Rieu, SINA, etc.
